The fourth edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will commence on November 4 in Mirpur, with defending champions Comilla Victorians taking on new entrants Rajshahi Kings. Mirpur and Chittagong will host 46 matches in a 39-day window between November 4 and December 9 in the 2016/17 edition of the tournament. Teams featuring in this edition has been increased to seven, with Khulna Titans and Rajshahi Kings replacing Sylhet Superstars.

Defending champions Comilla have the highest winning percentage - 75%. They first played in the 2015/16 season and emerged champions with nine wins out of 12 games in the tournament. Khulna team has the worst record, with a win rate of 39%. They lost nine out of the 12 matches in 2012/13 season which is the most for a team in a season in BPL. The team from Chittagong has lost the most matches (20), finishing second from last in 2011/12, last in 2015/16 and finishing runner up in 2012/13.

There have been seven 200-plus totals in the tournament so far, with Dhaka scoring four of them. Five of the seven totals have come in the 2012/13 season and two in the 2011/12 season. The match between Barisal and Rajshahi is the only one which had two totals more than 200 in the same game. 58 by Barisal against Sylhet in Mirpur last year is the lowest total in BPL.

The only 100-plus run win in BPL came in the second season when Chittagong beat Sylhet by 119 runs in Dhaka. There have been two 10 wicket defeats, both coming against Sylhet by Barisal in 2012 and by Chittagong in 2015.

Just like many other T20 leagues across the world, Chris Gayles bat has dominated in the BPL too. He has scored three hundreds in just 10 games. Five of the eight centuries in the tournament has been scored by West Indies, Dwayne Smith and Ewin Lewis scoring one each in addition to the three by Gayle. Four players average on the north of 40 (minimum 10 innings) Gayle (77.28), Imran Nazir (43.33), Ahmed Shehzad (43.12) and Brad Hodge (42.00). The highest average for a local player is 36.13 by Mushfiqur Rahim.

Kevon Cooper is the leading wicket taker in BPL with 49 scalps with three four wicket hauls. He remains in the only pacer among the six bowlers with 30-plus wickets. Among the bowlers who have bowled at least 250 balls, Coopers average of 12.89 and economy rate of 6.05 is the best which makes him an invaluable asset. One wicket behind Cooper is Shakib Al Hasan, to go along with 745 runs earning him Player of the Series awards in both the first two editions.
