Kuakata Beach in Bangladesh

Kuakata is a panoramic sea beach on the southernmost tip of Bangladesh. Kuakata Located in the Patuakhali district, Kuakata has a wide sandy beach from where one can see both the sunrise and sunset. It is about 320 Kilometers south of Dhaka, the capital, and about 70 Kilometers from the district headquarters. The Kuakata beach is 30 km long and 6 km wide. On the eastern end of the beach is Gongamati Reserved Forest, an evergreen mangrove forest and snippet of the original Kuakata. When the Rakhines settled in the area in 1784, Kuakata was part of the larger Sundarbans forest. However, the Sundarbans is now at a distance of one-hour by speed boat. As a mangrove forest, Gongamati, like the Sundarbans, offers some protection against tidal surges however it too is being threatened by logging and deforestation. The best way to reach the forest is by foot or bike along the beach, where a flock of flag flying fishing boats can be seen trawling the coast. Choosing to visit Gangamati in the late afternoon is a perfect time to watch the sun caste shadows on the abstract exposed mangrove roots.
 
Kuakata (Sagar Kannya / Daughter of the Sea) sea beach is a white sandy beach. It is about 18 km long and 3.5km wide. It is one of the rarest places to see the full view of both sunrise and sunset from the same place or same position. This beach is surrounded by green trees and beside the beach there are many garden forests, like The Foyej Miyar Coconut Garden, Lembur Chor, Jhau bon, Gangamotir Chor etc. These gardens and forests are the most attracting part for the tourist. There are no quick sands in the beach. So you can frequently run, take bath, swim, and pick up cockle from the beach. There are two rivers, named Payra and Bishkhali are west of the beach and river named Agunmukha is east of the beach. It has also some wanderings sites like the Rakhain Polly, Shima Buddhu Bihar, Fatrar Chor,Rash Mela, Shutki Polli  that are enjoyable for the tourist.

  • How To Travel
Direct bus service from Dhaka to Kuakata is available that leaves from Sayedabad bus station at night.
If you want to travel by launch you can find direct launch from Dhaka Sadarghat to Patuakhali.
From the Patuakhali, you can reach Kuakata by bus or you can hire the motorcycle.
You have to cross three ferries to reach the spot. Then you can hire a boat costing BDT 1000 to 1200 to visit all the sites of Kuakata.Kuakata Beach in Bangladesh

  • Sunrise & Sunset'point on the beach.
  • Jhaubon, alongside the beach.
  • Lemur Char, accessible by Motorcycle & Zip-car.
  • Fatrar Dip, accessible by Boat & Trawler.
  • Misripara- Rakhain Village. It contains a Buddhist Temple which has a statue of Buddha of about 30 feet high. The road communication to this village is not a good though. The Motorcycle is the only good choice of transport to visit here.

Situated in the religious south close to the Sunderbans, it is a long beach with fishing being the primary industry. After they are caught, they are dried on the beach before being shipped elsewhere in the country.
