University of Dhaka

The University of Dhaka is the best university of Bangladesh. Dhaka University is an international University. In 1921 at first day of July established the Dhaka University. The Dhaka University was opened its doors to students with as the first Vice-Chancellor Sir P.J. Hartog of the University. It is the older university of Bangladesh. The University was set up in a picturesque part of the city known as Ramna on 600 acres of land. After the Partition of India, it became the focal point of progressive and democratic movements in Pakistan. Its students and teachers played a central role in the rise of Bengali nationalism and the independence of Bangladesh.

The University started its activities with 3 Faculties, 12 Departments, 60 teachers, 877 students and 3 dormitories (Halls of Residence) for the students. At this time the University consists of 13 Faculties, 77 Departments, 11 Institutes, 23 residential halls, 3 hostels and more than 51 Research Centres. About 37,064 and 1,885 respectively students and teachers have risen.
